In today’s world, it’s possible to get paid for breaking a sweat in ways that might surprise you.
You might think the only way to earn money while exercising is to become a fitness trainer, but that’s a beginner’s mindset.
There are plenty of websites and gigs that reward individuals for getting their blood pumping. Many legitimate companies will reward you for a workout, go bike around, or lift heavy things. Yep, you read that right! They’re paying you to get a workout done daily.
There are also apps where you can bet to lose weight and find dog walking jobs. You really don’t have to be stuck in a desk job to be earning decent money nowadays.
If I only knew that these opportunities exist years ago, I would have made money while I was losing a bit of weight trying to achieve a toned body.
So if you want to make your fitness journey more enticing, this is the perfect article for you. I’ve written down different ways for you to make your workouts more financially rewarding and make sure you earn as you sweat.

1. Evidation
Evidation is one of those apps that pay you to work out. All you need is to connect it to your Fitbit, Apple Health, Garmin, Misfit, or other gadgets.
Before you can start earning points and not waste any of your efforts, it’s important to remember that you must confirm your account. You’ll receive a confirmation email after signing up.
As a user, you will get paid to walk, bike, run, swim, and do other active exercises. Additional ways to earn points would be to read suggested articles or participate in a research study.
With Evidation, you can also get paid to eat (as long as you’re eating healthy). What’s more, you can also get paid to sleep too!
According to its website, you can earn up to 80 points per day for each variable activity. You get to earn 6 points for smaller activities like weighing yourself, sleep tracking, and sharing your health journey on Twitter.
10,000 points equal to $10 which is redeemable via PayPal, direct deposit, and gift cards. Given that the points you’ll earn are capped at 80 points per day, and achieve that on a daily basis, the maximum money you’ll make is around $20 to $30 per year.
Is it worth it? You decide.
For me, it doesn’t hurt to just let it run in the background while doing your daily routine. That thirty dollars is still free money at the end of the year.
Pros: You can just leave the app open and forget it so it will register every activity you do.
Cons: Earning potential is capped. You couldn’t make more if you wanted to get a bigger payout.
2. DietBet
DietBet is a website that allows you to get paid to exercise. They have successfully enticed people to join their website through gamification of their weight loss journey.
On their platform, you can bet on yourself to achieve a weight goal within a certain timeframe. The bet here could be $20 to $50 – it’s not bad considering you’re getting healthy while at the same time being rewarded monetarily.
The overall process just has three phases:
You first need to join the game. The games can be seen on the website’s home page under the Featured Games section. It’s where you’ll see the name of the challenge, the current pot, the number of players, and the bet amount.
The second process is to win the challenge. Get active and be healthy. Do everything you can to lose weight. You are competing with a number of contestants in the challenge so this gives you more motivation to win.
Lastly, when the game comes to an end, the winners get to split the pot and receive their earnings.
Pros: You are more motivated to lose weight since you have your own money on the line. You can also make money when you win the challenge.
Cons: Sometimes participants don’t get an ROI if every contestant achieves the goal.
3. DoorDash
If you want to get a sweat in and get paid around $37 per hour, you should try being a Dasher On Bike!
These are DoorDash food delivery drivers that use bikes as means of transportation. They typically earn $200 per day just by working 6 hours per shift!
The best thing about this job is you can focus on delivering food and nothing else. You don’t have to worry about talking to customers or satisfying a boss – I can even say that this is one of the best jobs for introverts.
Dashers On Bikes get paid higher than Dashers that use cars because bikers can always take the faster route which means they get to fulfill more orders.
Say for example in a 5:00 PM rush hour traffic, Dashers on cars can only get one order done. Compared to bikers, they might finish two to three orders since they don’t have to go through traffic. Not only are you building wealth, but you’re also building health at the same time by avoiding a sedentary lifestyle!
To make your time as a Dasher more lucrative, it’s best that you work during peak time. This is the time of day when there are a lot of orders coming in the application.
According to DoorDash, peak times are from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM for lunch and 4:30 PM to 8:00 PM for dinner. These are the busiest time on the app which means more opportunities to get consecutive orders.
Pros: You deliver more orders since being on a bike is the fastest way to get around the city.
Cons: The order volume will greatly depend on where you are located. If you live in a small town that’s far from the main city, the number of orders might be low.
4. Start A Fitness Blog
Starting a fitness blog is one of the most exciting things you can do because it helps establish your personal brand in the fitness industry.
As you take your blog seriously, you’ll be setting yourself up for a lot of money-making opportunities. However, before we think about the monetary gains of having a blog, let’s discuss the type of fitness website you can create.
- All things fitness blog (AKA a fitness lifestyle blog) – Here you talk about any topic in the fitness industry. You can talk about meals, workouts, different diets, and many more. A good example of this would be Nerd Fitness.
- Demographic-specific blog – As they say, riches are in the niches. You can start a blog that talks to one group of people. This can be moms, millennials, corporate employees, etc. Take a look at Fit Bottomed Girls for this type of website.
- News and publication – Other than workouts, you can write blog posts on the latest news that’s happening in the health and fitness industry. Check out Breaking Muscle on how they have the latest news in the field.
Imagine turning your passion into a paycheck! That’s the beauty of building a blog – you get to write about what you love and earn money from it. There’s nothing more fulfilling than getting paid to share your expertise and knowledge with the world.
When I began this blog, my main goal was to inspire and empower my readers to break free from the 9-5 grind and start earning money on their own terms. I wanted to share my financial knowledge and experiences to help others achieve financial freedom and live life on their own terms.
Through this blog, I’ve shared several money-making opportunities, but if you’re looking for the ultimate way to make money online, there’s nothing quite like starting your own blog. Trust me, this has been my top recommendation for years, and I’ve seen countless success stories from those who have taken the leap
I went from earning my first $100 to quitting my job and becoming a six-figure blogger. It’s a low-risk but very high-reward opportunity for people who want to put in the work.
I started this blog with less than a hundred dollar investment but the ROI is more than tenfold already.
You’ll also see that I used to log my income reports. I stopped my income reports for privacy reasons, but in my last one, I show my readers how I made $27,689 in a single month – seeing that figure proved to me that earning six figures per year with a website is very possible.
If you’d like to start your blogging journey, I’ve listed an in-depth step-by-step guide on how you can start a blog and make money!
You can also get my free course on starting a blog – I shared my strategies on how I became a six-figure blogger in just 18 months of starting from scratch!
Pros: You get to write about topics that you love while building a following and getting paid along the way.
Cons: It’s going to be a long journey to build a blog that pays you. You can learn how long it really takes before you can make money with a blog.
5. Become A Personal Trainer
Becoming a personal trainer is far different compared to several years ago.
Back then, you’d need to have certifications and be physically present with your client. In today’s world, both don’t need to be met.
With the help of technology, personal trainers just need actual client results and a stable internet connection to build a service-based business. This modern way of offering online training services is the norm because it’s way cheaper than the traditional route.
How is it cheaper? Well, you only need to invest in a website to start, and creating social media accounts are free. You also don’t have to travel daily to meet your clients – you can just meet them through a video call.
The only factor that remains the same with online and the traditional route is the dedication to get the dream body of your clients. The more satisfied clients and positive reviews you have, the more credible you are as a trainer.
You can use your clients’ honest reviews on your program (user-generated content) to prove your competency and get more people to sign up for your services.
An average online trainer earns $25 per hour which equates to earning $52,600 per year!
Pros: Being an online personal trainer is a lucrative way to make money with your passion. You can handle multiple clients at the same time since most of them have the same goals.
Cons: You’d have to be more focused on your clients to get results.
6. Start A YouTube Channel
Video is the most dominant form of health and fitness content. It allows you to fully explain why diets work and what workouts your clients should be doing.
The types of videos you can do on YouTube can vary. This is where you can unleash your creative side to make you stand out from the rest of the fitness YouTubers:
- Vlogs – In these videos, you can record your daily routine for your subscribers. Show how you cook your meals, your sessions in the gym, and how you make your protein shakes.
- Educational – This is where you teach your audience more about general fitness, workouts, and diet.
- Cooking – A lot of people are looking for healthy recipes for them to eat in their fitness journey and your channel can be the go-to for this need.
- Gym visits – You can visit different gyms in the world since a lot of people are interested in what certain gyms from across the globe look like.
- Challenges – Interested in taking on challenges while documenting your journey? These are fun video contents to try for your channel. Examples of these challenges could be hitting a new personal record or losing weight in three months.
On top of being creative, YouTubers have different ways to make money on the platform. This is why being a YouTuber is a “job” that’s sought after by many.
The average YouTube pay in 2022 in the US was around $1,154 per week or $4,616 per month!
Pros: Creating YouTube videos are a great way to fully display your knowledge on fitness while building a profitable personal brand.
Cons: It’s going to take time to build your subscriber numbers and make money with your passion for fitness and workout.
7. Yoga Instructor
Doing yoga doesn’t just limit you to being a student to doing poses alone. Your passion for the art could lead you to a teaching opportunity to help beginners on their journey to being yogis.
Others are too afraid to teach thinking that they’re not good enough. That is perfectly normal but you have to go past that limiting belief. To help you overcome this mindset, here are some points to reflect on to see if you’re more than ready to teach:
You want more people to understand the benefits of yoga. The feeling of wanting to share this beautiful activity with others is because you have already enjoyed the benefits of it.
You’re passionate about helping newer students in the class. You would take time to teach poses or give out tips for beginners in yoga.
Are you addicted to yoga? You’re not alone! The greatest yoga teachers are passionate about their craft, constantly studying and practicing new techniques. If you’re finding yourself falling deeper and deeper into this industry, even without prompting, then you may just have what it takes to become a fantastic teacher.
But if you’re serious about pursuing a career as a yoga instructor, you’ll need to start working on your personal brand. Luckily, there’s an easy and trendy solution – short-form videos!
Here are some ideas that can help you get your brand or business out there:
- Show snippets of what it’s like to be in your yoga class
- Create short videos explaining the benefits of doing yoga
- Get reviews from your students on their experience working with you
- Show them a final yoga pose then break the form down on how it can be done properly
- Show the different products that beginner yoga students can use to enhance their experience.
An average yoga instructor earns around $25 to $35 per hour. Meaning if you teach yoga 4 hours a day, you’re earning $100 to $140 per day which is $500 to $700 per week – and that’s just teaching yoga part-time!
Pros: There are lots of ways to make money by being a Yoga instructor – in-person, online, or privately.
Cons: You might not have a good work-life balance in this job especially when you get more students.
8. Teach A Sport
Are you good at basketball? Golf? Baseball? or Soccer?
You can set up an after-school session or a summer BootCamp for kids or teens. This can even be a weekend job for you – it will definitely make your Saturdays more lucrative!
You could help kids or teenagers to become better at a sport by teaching them the fundamentals and proper movement. This is a perfect side hustle as parents want their kids to be active on non-school days.
If you aren’t familiar with teaching a sport to a student, here are some tips that you can follow:
- Plan your classes in advance – You can’t conduct classes on the fly. It makes it disorganized and unprofessional from your end. Plan out the drills or exercises that you’re going to teach.
- Explain what needs to be brought – Let your students know that they need to bring their own equipment in class.
- Start with the fundamentals – No matter what level of expertise your students have, you can never go wrong when starting with the fundamentals.
- Watch how others teach – There’s no harm in observing how others teach, you might learn a thing or two when coaching.
- Teach what they can use in-game – Most students want to learn so they can be better in games. Teach them moves or tactics for them to perform better.
Pros: You get paid to teach a sport you love doing and you expand your network by meeting the parents of your student.
Cons: You’d have to be patient with the progress of your students.
9. Do Landscaping Work
Want to be focused on your own work while doing some physical exercise?
Landscaping allows you to do this – you’re one with nature and you are faced with physically demanding tasks that are needed to be done within the day.
This job will definitely make you sweat especially when the sun’s around. But a word of caution, don’t forget to apply your sunscreen and wear protective gear and clothing to avoid the harmful UV rays during the sun’s peak hours. I know that you’re looking for ways to get paid to work out because you care about your physical health, but don’t forget the health of your skin as well – it’s your body’s largest organ!
With landscaping, you’ll be mowing big lawns, carrying sacks of soil, and cutting grass for hours. The most tiring part is most landscaping projects can’t be finished within a day.
What most people miss out on is that landscaping doesn’t just need strength, it also demands stamina from your end. You can’t be effective as a landscaper when you’re fatigued so easily.
Aside from being physically fit, being a landscaper requires technical skills. Here are some things you’d need to consider in this line of work:
- Earn certifications – You can get a lot of certifications in this field. Start by taking online courses on landscape management.
- Materials – You need to have the proper materials to get the desired results for your clients.
- Apply for an apprenticeship – Learn from professionals in this field. This is one way to shorten your learning curve.
A common misconception in this field is that people think that landscaping is a woman’s job. In reality, over 90% of landscapers were men. This makes it one of the best side hustles for men to pick up.
Pros: Landscaping has a peaceful and quiet work environment. It’s just you and nature.
Cons: You should be ready to work no matter the weather condition.
10. Delivery Jobs
Delivery jobs go way beyond delivering food, parcels, or important documents. There are apps that will get people to deliver your heavy and big household items.
An example of that app is Dolly – it’s a delivery app that pays you to help their clients move to different apartments and carry bulky items.
The things you could be lifting here are pieces of furniture, appliances, and boxes. So you’d need to be fit enough to carry these items from an apartment unit to a truck or through a flight of stairs.
This is why delivery jobs like being under Dolly are listed here – you’re surely going to be active in this type of work.
There are two choices for you to be employed under Dolly:
- Dolly Helper – A Dolly Helper earns around $50 per hour. Here, you’ll need to use your pickup, box truck, cargo van, or SUV. Top Dolly Helpers earn in the range of $60-$90 per hour.
- Dolly Hand – Don’t have a car for this work? No problem. You can help in carrying the items safely to their destination. Dolly Hands earns $35 per hour.
Pros: You don’t need a car to be employed under Dolly. You can help in carrying the pieces of equipment and furniture to their destination and still get paid.
Cons: There is not much career growth in this industry because helping people move from one location to another is simply as good as a weekend job.
11. Dog Walking
Want to make money walking dogs?
This is a job that’s overlooked by many because they see it as work that’s too easy. But little do they know that it’s a side hustle that can turn into a full-blown business.
In some states, people are making north of $100,000 per year just by walking dogs. Yes, your love for dogs can let you earn at least $8,000 per month – that’s earnings close to $300 per day! It’s literally a niche that allows you to earn money walking.
But before your mind starts racing to the possibility of you earning such numbers, it’s important to know what’s needed for you to be a dog walker.
- You need to love dogs – Obviously! This means you shouldn’t be allergic to your furry coworkers.
- Experience – If you’re starting out, it will be hard to get paying clients. You can start by walking the dog of your friends, neighbors, and relatives.
- Gather and show testimonials – Testimonials increase the confidence of your prospects. The more confident they are, the bigger the chance they will buy your service.
- Certifications and training – This isn’t mandatory but it helps. It can be the differentiator between you and other dog walkers in the area.
Pros: A dog walking service has a low startup cost and the potential profit can be very high.
Cons: Work can be a bit repetitive. That’s why you need to love working with dogs in the first place.
12. Become a Firefighter
One of the best jobs is being a firefighter – not only because you’re seen as an important member of society but because you get to be fit all year round!
Being fit in this line of work is essential since you’re going to be carrying people or dragging them out of a burning establishment with thick smoke that’s making it hard for you to breathe.
Kind of intense, right? That’s usually the scene when there’s an emergency for firefighters to attend to.
Now, what do they do when there’s no fire to put out? What do they do all day?
Firefighters also take medical emergency calls. They are trained and certified to do CPR and basic emergency medical response. Apart from this, other examples of situations they attend to are:
- Gas leaks
- Car accidents
- Specialty rescues
- Police assistance
You can land the role of a firefighter by being a volunteer, taking up training courses, or applying directly to a department. The usual requirements here involve:
- Passing a fitness test
- Passing a medical test
- Be over 18 years of age
The average salary of a US firefighter is $162 per day making them earn $52,300 per year.
Pros: You get to save lives for a living while maintaining a physically fit body.
Cons: Being a firefighter carries the most risk out of all the jobs here.
13. Work As A Bike Courier
Being a bike courier is a job that’s perfect for you if you want to be always on the go. You would be carrying different items or parcels for companies and taking them to their proper destination.
The items here could be:
- Boxes
- Laptops
- Flowers
- Packages
- Documents
Some of the stuff you’ll be bringing will be highly confidential or sensitive, so as you bike around town and make your way through traffic, it’s important to keep your package safe and secure.
You will also encounter delivery assignments that are time-sensitive. You need to know your way around your city to deliver the package as soon as possible.
However, there would be times when you’ll be delayed. It’s something that’s bound to happen – it can be due to heavy traffic or your tires getting flat. Whatever the reason may be, you need to inform the dispatch staff or the receiver.
Communication is key in this line of work. You’d want to let the company know where you are and how many more minutes will it take for you to arrive at the destination.
Your potential earning could be $16 per hour making you earn $128 in an 8-hour shift. If you like this kind of job where you just ride around town with your bike, I would say that being a Dasher On Bike is the better choice simply because it pays higher.
Pros: You get to be retained in this job when you’re fast and deliver the items on time.
Cons: There’s usually a lack of benefits for gig workers because bike couriers are treated as non-employees or independent contractors.
14. Become A Tour Guide
A job that keeps you on your foot is being a tour guide. You’re pretty active when you’re showing tourists different places around your city.
Remember that the best tour guides are not just “guides” – they’re also entertainers. They make their clients laugh or be scared if necessary. Old places, paintings, artifacts, or parks are flat-out boring but if you use stories and interesting facts when presenting them, then it brings life to these places.
This is why it’s important for you to know the places you’re touring. Tell the story behind a building, mention if it was shown in a Hollywood film, or was the place part of a Netflix documentary. Including these types of facts will make your clients more intrigued and interested in what you have to say.
To help you become better tourists guides, here are some points to keep in mind:
- Be knowledgeable – The only way for you to be engaging is to be knowledgeable about the spots you’ll be showing. This can be achieved through thorough research.
- Be a great communicator – You can’t stutter or be soft-spoken. Talk with authority and sound knowledgeable to your audience.
- Always be on time – There’s a good chance that tourists have somewhere to go after touring with you. One way to show respect and be a professional is to start and end on time.
Being a tour guide allows you to earn around $22 per hour which is around $34,700 in a year. That’s before factoring in the tips they get from tourists.
Pros: You can practice your presentation and socialization skills as a tour guide.
Cons: The number of hours you work here varies greatly depending on the season.
15. Work In A Warehouse
If you’ve reached this far, it’s fair to say that you’re someone who can deal with physically demanding workloads. The last job I’ll be recommending is working in a warehouse.
Before you say how bad it is to work in a warehouse, let me explain some positive points. You’ll definitely love the last one.
First, you get to talk with other colleagues. You get to meet various types of people coming from different walks of life. Your network grows and your time at work isn’t that boring.
Second, you’re active. You’re not sitting all day at a desk job. You can get good exercise just by showing up to work.
Third, you’re not stuck doing the same thing daily. In most cases, your work will vary depending on what needs attention. Do you need to accept incoming orders? Are there items that need inventory counting? There’s a lot to do when working in a warehouse.
And lastly, you get to see and experience the inner workings of a big company. This is a good experience as you apply for a higher role in the company. Businesses would rather promote their staff than hire a new employee that has to go through a learning curve on how the operations work.
Warehouse workers typically get paid $16 per hour which is around $39,900 per year. Although it might be small compared to some of the jobs here, at least you have the chance to work your way up to a higher position.
Pros: Unlike other positions above, working in a warehouse has a good career path.
Cons: It doesn’t pay as much compared to the other jobs above.
