There are so many types of digital products you can sell, and one of the more popular ones are e-courses and eBooks that people would want to learn about. You might think that people aren’t willing to pay for these digital products, but I’m living proof that eBooks are one of the best passive income ideas, and you can use Canva to help you with that!
I’ve created my own eBooks on building a successful blog and gaining long-lasting traffic on Pinterest, which has garnered a ton of sales, even after posting them. Now, I earn money from sales even while sleeping!
There are a ton of topics you can discuss and share your insights on, may they be about how to lose weight, a complete travel guide for Japan, or even ways to earn money on Pinterest!
You aren’t just limited to eBooks, there are a ton of digital products you can sell, such as coloring pages, artworks, worksheets, or even stationery sets. And yes, you can find and customize templates on Canva when creating these products.
2. Create Graphics For Social Media
For businesses to improve their digital presence and increase their customer base, they need to up their social media game. The same goes for influencers and bloggers like me who want to spread word about the awesome content they post.
However, I know how challenging it can be to create consistent and visually appealing content almost every day! That’s why businesses and content creators are more than willing to purchase unique graphics and images for their posts on social media. This is where it’s your time to shine as you sell your photos and create engaging social media graphics from Canva.
Thanks to Canva, you can make different types of templates that can be a huge hit online, whether it’s to showcase an inspiring quote, a huge sale, an event, or new product release. Whatever the case may be, you can make big bucks working for companies and content creators who need a reliable social media manager with the knack of creating these types of posts.
3. Design Websites
Yup, Canva is THAT versatile, you can even design websites with it to sell for profit! While you will need to invest in Canva’s Pro account to publish your designed webpages, you get your money’s worth because you’ll gain access to all their stock photos and more editing features you can’t get from the free version.
If designing entire websites isn’t your forte, you can still sell your services to create different important website elements using Canva, including website fonts, graphics, business logos, and the like. For total beginners who are still looking for some design inspiration, you can check out Pinterest and Creative Market to see what templates are popular among businesses and content creators.
You can either pitch your services to companies looking for a website designer, or create Canva templates to sell on platforms like Etsy, Design Bundles, CodeCanyon or Creative Market.
4. Freelance Graphic Design
With Canva being such a huge graphic design platform, it makes sense to use it as one of your tools to work as a freelance graphic designer. You can decide to work on simple, short-term projects that may only need a handful of marketing materials. Or, you can make a living out of your profitable hobbies and find long-term gigs that allow you to earn a consistent income from home.
You read that right, being a freelance graphic designer will allow you more freedom of schedule so you can work anytime, anywhere. The jobs can range from product designs, graphics for smartphone apps, to attention-grabbing marketing materials like presentations, sales promo banners, and more.
Canva offers a wide selection of templates you can choose from when it comes to creating marketing materials for businesses, or you can take advantage of their fantastic design features to build your own graphics from scratch.
Either way, you can begin your path as a graphic designer by checking platforms like Upwork or Freelancer, where many businesses are always on the lookout for your skills.
5. Sell Printables On Etsy
People are always looking for digital planners, meal planners, and weekly cleaning lists to print. It’s a fun way to keep them motivated and on top of life’s responsibilities. Heck, I even sell The Printable Power-Up Budget Binder to teach others how to keep track of expenses and save more money!
That is why you can make a ton of money selling printables online. Canva offers a wide variety of templates for journals, planners, budget lists, checklists, calendars, and so many more printables that can be useful for our daily lives.
And mind you, Etsy is filled with millions of users looking to buy these exact printables! So, it’s time to unleash your creative side and create unique printables that everyone’s going to want to get. Once you post your products on Etsy, you can sit back and relax as the sales come in.
6. Start A Print-On-Demand Business
Not only can you sell digital products by using Canva. It’s also possible to sell physical products and start a print-on-demand business, too!
The customizable items are endless, from shirts and mugs, to stickers and mouse pads. I recommend you open up your services to personalized designs made for families, friends, or even couples, because these will be a huge hit for them. I’ve witnessed families in Disney World with matching shirts so they don’t get lost, or couples with adorable mugs to enjoy their morning coffee together.
Another way you can earn big bucks is by creating and printing your designs from Canva to party favors. Weddings are one of your huge money makers here, with bulk orders giving you a lot of profit in the long run!
7. Design Logos for Local Businesses
One of the most important elements of a business is its logo. In fact, it’s one of the first things a business needs to set itself apart from the competition, from restaurants and realtors, down to contractors, like plumbers, electricians, and handymen. Thanks to Canva’s extensive graphics libraries and typography, you can start working as a freelance logo designer for your local businesses.
You’ll always find a great-paying project, may it be with a totally new business that needs a logo to stand out or a renowned business that wants to change things up.
This easy side hustle from home can have you earn anywhere between $40 to over $100 per project, depending on the design complexity. Now, imagine working on at least one logo a day… As long as you have consistent clients, it can be your next full-time job!
I recommend you first prepare a portfolio of past logos, and that you tap into your local community and online freelance platforms like 99 Designs and Upwork to get started on this business idea.
8. Join The Canva Creator Program
Besides selling digital products and other printables, you can always become a Canva contributor and join the platform’s creator program!
The Canva Creator Program is another way to earn passive income as you can submit your graphics, photos, and templates for users to take advantage of. The program is open for everyone, whether you’re a photographer, illustrator, artist, or designer, and you have the ability to work without any deadlines. You also have pure creative freedom and get to put your work out there for millions to see. Isn’t that amazing?
This is a great side hustle with varying pay. I’ve seen some people earn between $3-10 a month, while I stumbled across a Reddit user who works as an element creator and earns around $600 a month on average. To earn steady income from the Canva Creator Program, I recommend staying consistent with it, and making sure you produce high-quality work to avoid being rejected.
