Every year during the holidays, I feel the need to make at least three gift baskets because it allows me to unleash my creative side. Whenever I scroll through the malls, grocery stores, and even Costco, I see so many varieties of gift baskets, and my first reaction is “rip-off”!! They cost an arm and a leg, yet they only give you subpar products packaged nicely for people who just want to spend money on something that looks beautiful.
It’s just like buying takeout or restaurant food. Ingredients aren’t great, but it tastes good because of all the MSG or unhealthy high fats and salts they add. Same with these gift baskets: they load them with garbage or low-priced cheap junk. Luckily, just like cooking your own homemade meal and making it healthier and more delicious, you can do the same with gift baskets. That means creating your own version and making it more personal and made with love.
There are many DIY styles to choose from for different people you want to gift – friends, family, and even coworkers. You can customize it to their favorite Disney character or any character they like and add essentials they will find valuable or useful. My favorites are DIY money gifts and money puzzle boxes or pranks for someone who enjoys a laugh or two.
You can gift them cookies, treats like M&Ms, higher-quality chocolate like Godiva or Starbucks, and even practical items like winter lip balm, hand cream, or skincare if your gal loves taking care of her skin. As mentioned, there is a lot you can do, and I summarized some ideas to help fuel your inspiration this year.

1. Trader Joe’s Christmas Snack Pack

This gift basket is for Trader Joe’s fans! I mean, who doesn’t love a Trader Joe’s haul for the holidays?
It’ll last them until February, so what’s not to love.
Load it up with snacks, treats, chocolates, nuts, and practically the whole store, and they’ll be filled with gratitude and joy.
2. DIY Dollar Tree Gift Basket Under $20

Everyone’s broke, and it’s not like you don’t want to spend money on loved ones, but when times are tough, it’s reasonable to find a $20 gift that’ll feel grand enough that they think you spent a lot of love on them.
Load this one up with baking essentials so they can make more cookies than they can buy at Starbucks – just get them into the Betty Crocker spirit.
3. Hot Chocolate Gift Basket for Christmas

Hot chocolate fans are gonna go coco crazy over you for this.
Fill this pretty lady up with Hershey’s, M&M’s, Oh Henry, and go fancier with a piece of Godiva – they’ll love you for wanting to make them gain weight after this season.
Just kidding, but really, they will love you… as long as you include a gym membership with it. Just kidding again. 😄
4. Tea Gift Basket for Tea Lovers

Anyone fancy for some tea?
I’m putting my hands up, this is the perfect gift for tea lovers, or even coffee drinkers who want to switch to tea lovers wannabe, you know what I mean.
Include a pretty little tea pot in there, preferably the one from Beauty and the Beast, Mrs. Potts, and little Chip for anyone who’s a Disney fan. They’ll adore it and appreciate a classic Disney theme set.
5. Holiday Spa Gift Basket for Her

Give the gift of a holiday spa for someone who loves treating themselves.
Fill this up with some lip scrub, lip balm, and body cleanser, all peppermint flavor.
You may also want to include some skincare essentials like niacinamide, retinol, and vitamin C for the ones who are hardcore into their beauty routine.
6. DIY Grinch Dollar Tree Hot Cocoa Gift Basket

Are you feeling Grinchy this season?
Perhaps you know someone who is a Grinch themselves, so give this basket to them.
Sure, they’ll snark at you while receiving it, but inside they’re going to be filled with tears and joy that you actually thought about them. They just won’t show it because they’re people who want to put on a Grinch show.
Include some hot chocolate, a Grinch mug, and some toys to make the season filled with Grinchy laughter and joy.
7. Breakfast in Bed Gift Basket for Couples

It’s kind of ironic giving this breakfast-in-bed gift to couples.
It’s likely for the lazy couple who wants someone to serve them, so one of them will need to figure out who’s the chef making the breakfast.
I guess they’ll eventually fight over who gets to stay in bed and enjoy the pancakes, gingerbread, smoked ham, and a glass of champagne without actually doing the prep work.
8. DIY Coffee Gift Basket

This beautiful DIY coffee gift set will suit anyone who enjoys a cup of coffee every morning, so that means 70% of people out there because, according to stats, 70% drink coffee every day.
That means you’re safe with this DIY gift basket.
Just include the type of coffee they love. It could be Starbucks, Dunkin’ Donuts, a grocery in-store brand, or even McDonald’s if they want you to include a Happy Meal with that too.
9. Movie Night Gift Basket for Family

I don’t know about you, but I am the type who likes to munch on candies and chocolates and not so much popcorn during a Netflix binge watch.
This is a great gift for the frugal couple who enjoy watching movies every Friday instead of going to the theatres.
If you have a little extra spare cash, it doesn’t hurt to include some free movie tickets as a treat for them.
10. Holiday Gift Idea for Teachers

You want your kids to show appreciation for their teachers, so go ahead and put in all your might and hard work to create the ultimate DIY gift basket for teachers.
Include some school supplies they will find useful like Sharpie markers, pens, notepads, and don’t forget the sticky notes, maybe some stickers too so they can reward their kids for a job well done.
For a classic look, add a fresh organic apple to the basket, and just reassure them it didn’t come from the Evil Queen in Snow White.
