Are you strapped for cash or want to give your house a complete makeover?

If you want to make money today while revamping your home, you can’t go wrong with selling a few unused items at home!
You won’t have to shell out any capital, and you can get rid of stuff you won’t need. It’s a win-win situation that Marie Kondo would be proud of!

One of the major bestsellers and items you can earn good money with is used appliances. Most times, your appliances likely have a lot of life left in them, and there are many people willing to pay for them. It beats having to take them to the dump!

Now, I know your major question must be – Where do I sell my used appliances?

Thanks to the trusty Internet, you can sell anything you want around the world, so you’ll always have interested buyers. You aren’t only limited to selling items in your neighborhood anymore!

Whether you want to sell your fridge, laundry machine, dishwasher, or microwave, here are the best places to sell used appliances for cash.

PIN THIS: I’ll be updating this post so make sure to pin this image here and save it to your Pinterest board. That way you’ll be able to come back to this page to learn about the where to sell used appliances for cash!

best places to sell used appliances for extra money

1. Facebook Marketplace

This is probably one of the most popular platforms to sell used appliances, like microwaves, coffee makers, freezers, blenders, and many other random items.

I mean, there’s a great reason why everyone should consider posting their listings on Facebook Marketplace. For starters, there are about 1.2 billion users on the platform alone, with 1.1 billion people visiting the Marketplace every MONTH. Whether you plan on selling your LG flat screen TV or Panasonic washing machine, this is where you can sell it in a snap.

All you need is a Facebook account, which I’m sure you already have, then head to Facebook Marketplace. Create a listing and place it under the “appliances” category. I recommend that you use high-quality photos and include all the details you can, including the appliance type, make, model, overall condition, and other unique features.

2. OfferUp

OfferUp is another must-have app if you want to sell washer and dryer appliances, as well as kitchen mixers, electric fans, rice cookers, vacuum cleaners, toasters, and more. There are millions of users on OfferUp right now, so you’ll never run out of interested buyers!

What sets OfferUp apart isn’t just the millions of users the platform has. It’s also the fact that they have their own mobile-friendly app and focus on in-person transactions. This reduces the risk of being scammed while selling your appliances.

I appreciate its security features for both buyers and sellers, compared to other websites. Before you sell an item to someone, you can review their user rating, conduct ID checks, and also search for safe meeting spots near you! While you do need to pay a fee of 12.9% of your item’s final price, it’s worth it for all the security features the app offers.

3. eBay

eBay is definitely one of the best places to sell just about anything, including appliances like microwaves, kitchen stoves, air conditioning units, air purifiers, air fryers, and more.

The major reason is the platform’s wide reach. We all know what eBay is and have probably bought secondhand goods there before, so you’ll definitely find many people who want to purchase your items on there!

Not only can you reach people around the country, but eBay also has an international audience! If you’re open to shipping your appliances to other countries, then it’s best to list your items here.

Besides that, I like that eBay has an auction feature, so potential buyers can bid on your item for a specified period. That way, you have the potential to earn even more than your asking price, especially if you have a “hot” item, like Samsung smart TVs or KitchenAid mixers!

Just like OfferUp, eBay has seller protection features in place, so you can weed out any scammers or fraudulent customers.

4. Craigslist

Craigslist is another familiar platform where you can find virtually anything under the sun, including jobs and housing! I recommend it if you’re looking for buyers nearby, as it allows you to list your offerings within your area. That way, it will be easier to handle logistics, whether you prefer buyers picking up the item in your home or at a convenient meeting spot.

Another huge advantage of Craigslist is that it’s completely free to use. You won’t have to pay for any fees when listing or selling your items. It’s also pretty easy to post your appliances for sale.

If you want to sell your second-hand appliances even quicker, I recommend setting competitive prices. Beyond posting good photos and detailed descriptions, pricing is key on Craigslist, since everyone’s looking for the best deals. You can opt to accept the “best offer” on the platform as well, which can entice more people to submit their offers.

5. Garage Sale

Whenever I see a neighbor holding a garage sale, I need to check it out! You never know what kind of treasures and fantastic deals you can find.

That’s why garage sales are a nice option when you want to sell your used appliances. You won’t have to worry about meetups or shipping since you’ll just need to place items for sale in your garage or yard for people to see. If you want to go the extra mile, you can sell other unused items in your home, or even set up a lemonade stand like the movies do!

I recommend timing your garage sale during non-busy hours. That means weekends and during good weather, any time between spring and fall. Let your neighbors know beforehand that you’ll be having a garage sale, so they can free their schedules and let others know to attend your yard sale!

6. Local Appliance Resellers

If your appliances are not in the best condition to sell, then you’ll want to check if there’s a store that buys used appliances! They do this to repair broken appliances and resell them to customers.

What’s awesome about selling to stores is that you get cash right away. If you need money quickly, they’re ready to purchase your used appliances. Sure, they’ll quote you a lower price than expected, but you won’t need to spend so much time and effort selling your items.

Besides local stores, check if your local pawnshop buys used appliances. Either way, both appliance stores and pawnshops won’t ask for any fees and will give you the cash immediately. Just make sure you do your research and choose a good store that purchases used appliances.

I also suggest contacting your local appliance stores and pawnshops to confirm that they’re willing to purchase used appliances, whether it’s laundry machines, dishwashers, and more.

7. Local Scrap Metal Recyclers

Were you planning to sell your old stove but realized it’s completely broken to the point of no return? Don’t throw it into the dumpster just yet because there’s still a way to get money out of your damaged appliances!

Your city will likely have recycling facilities that purchase appliances for scrap metal. The money you receive will depend on the current market value and total weight of metal each appliance has.

It likely won’t be much, but hey, every dollar counts!

Instead of completely throwing away your appliances, you can still make a few bucks out of it and contribute to the environment by recycling.

Once you find a scrap metal company near you, give them a call and let them know the appliances you plan to sell, as well as their condition. You should also ask if you can sell appliances as a whole, or if you need to separate their metal components. That way, you can prepare your appliances beforehand!
