In my no spend challenge post, I mentioned how and why I started taking my financial goals more seriously.
To keep it short, I was basically not happy with my life.
In one of my money motivational posts, I also mentioned that I was constantly asking myself these five questions:
– What is the meaning of life?
– Why do I want to be rich?
– What does it mean to live a rich life?
– What does it take to be happy?
– What do I want out of life?
With those questions in mind, I knew I couldn’t stand being trapped in the rat race any longer. That’s when I knew I needed change.
Struggling to answer those five questions, that’s when I knew I felt lost and empty. Basically, I felt no sense of satisfaction nor fulfillment with what I was doing.
Question to think about: was it really because of money??
Was I trying to think of “get-rich-quick” schemes to solve my problem? Was I also looking for the next hot investment – like Bitcoin – so I could escape the rat race?
Idk, maybe. You’ll find out soon…
So, from that point, I started googling (for six months) silly questions for self-help.
For example, I was googling how to:
– become a millionaire
– become rich (BTW, that’s how I discovered Ramit Sethi)
– be rich before 30
– save more money
– earn more money
– live a happy life
– quit your job with lots of money
– achieve financial freedom
Haha… you get the gist, right?
At this point, you must be thinking:
“WTF…… what a shallow girl…. all she cares about is money!”
Nope, I can tell you that’s not the case.
BTW, I will get to the main point of this post. Just bear with me and keep reading. You will find out what investment guarantees you unlimited returns!
But before I tell you, can I ask you a question?
If you were money rich, what would you buy?
I really encourage you to take some time to think about it.
What would I buy?
In my view, money in its physical form means nothing. It’s not the piece of paper itself that I value. Instead, I really only value that one thing that it can buy – freedom.
The freedom to pursue what I love doing without having to worry about money. Ultimately, freedom is my key to happiness.
So, still fixating on the topic of money and “hot” investments (that would essentially buy me “freedom”), I finally googled………
What is the best investment?
It certainly isn’t the bitcoin since this post is supposed to tell you that there’s something superior to it.
Is it Amazon stock? Nope. (though this could’ve made you a multimillionaire in hindsight.)
Is it buying into all those fancy derivative trading strategies with options? hah, hell no!
Is it becoming a landlord and owning over $5 million dollars worth of rental properties, like the charming real estate investor, Scott Mcgillivray?? Sounds promising, but no.
So, what’s the best investment? And what guarantees unlimited returns?
The simple answer is…
If you’ve been following me, you will know by now that Warren Buffet is my greatest inspiration.
Not long ago, I came across one of my favourite quotes by him:
“The most important investment you can make is in yourself.”
For almost a year, I was constantly thinking about this quote. I was so inspired by the meaning behind it, words couldn’t explain how I felt.
When I first read the quote, it hit me so hard because it seemed so common sense. Sadly, common sense isn’t so common these days.
But if you think about it, it makes sense.
All the time and effort you put into improving yourself becomes your most valuable asset.
As Buffet mentioned in an ABC news interview:
“Investing in yourself is the best thing you can do… anything that improves your own talents; nobody can tax it or take it away from you. They can run up huge deficits and the dollar can become worth far less. You can have all kinds of things happen. But if you’ve got talent yourself, and you’ve maximized your talent, you’ve got a tremendous asset that can return ten-fold.”
After discovering this quote, I made efforts investing in myself; not for money, but for improving my skills. Overall, it was just for me.
I’ve been going at this for almost a year and I can already feel that the “ten-fold” return is about to come!
For example, I acquired knowledge in personal finance by reading books and blogs every day. In addition, I attended webinars for further information.

To name a few, here are the books I recommend and love if you’re new to personal finance:
These are things that I would never imagine myself doing because, well….. I guess I just never thought about it.
But I was naturally getting addicted to topics about money and investing, without realizing that I was actually reading for over four hours a day. Overall, my financial situation improved substantially.
As Warren Buffett says: “Read 500 pages like this every day. That’s how knowledge works. It builds up, like compound interest.”
Find passion through self-development and by acquiring knowledge
As a result, my google search for “the best investment” eventually made me realize my passion!
Not only do I enjoy topics on personal finance, but I also enjoy refurbishing furniture. Had I not read about ways to make money on blogs, I wouldn’t have started my furniture hustle.
Because I knew that I always had an eye for design (and I wanted to earn more), I started to flip furniture. To my surprise, I enjoy it very much! After realizing my love for this stuff, I started to invest in myself by learning more about DIY refurbishing.
Because I love reading about finance, investing, and saving, I also wanted to learn how to blog about it. So, here I am — learning how to start a blog. I have a longggg way to go, but it’s a start.
Whether it’s about investing, saving, or flipping furniture as a hustle, I want to start sharing my experience and what I learned with all of you. I know it’s too early to predict the outcome, but I’m hoping my experience will teach, inspire, and motivate you.
Over to you now.
There you have it.
You know you’re way hotter than any other investment, so embrace what you’re capable of!
So, what are you waiting for?
Invest in yourself. Unlike bitcoin, stocks, and real estate, you are the only investment that can guarantee yourself tenfold returns.
